Adaptive Frontlighting Systems (AFS)Maximum light - Maximum safety... Low beam and High beamThe standard low beam is turned on automatically with the activation of the switch or in automatic mode as soon as a defined luminous value is under-run. The product portfolio ranges from conventional Halogen light, to Xenon- up to Bi-Xenon light.
Dynamic Curve LightBetter view especially on curvy country roads provides more safety, driving comfort and fun. That's why AL developed the so-called Dynamic Curvelight. Thereby an electronic control unit continously evaluates different driving parameters, e.g. steering angle, velocity or the yaw rate. On the basis of this analysis, the light of the low beam is swivelled horizontally during curve driving dependent from curve radius and enables an optimum illumination of the course of the road. Therewith the visibility range can be increased up to 70% compared with conventional lighting systems.
In 2003, Automotive Lighting launched the first Dynamic Curve Light in the BMW 3-Series Coupé and Cabrio.
In the meanwhile, this efficient technology is offered in all middle and upper class car models.
Cornering LightIf required, the cornerning light can also be activated automatically at a lower speed when turning into a curve, bending or with the actuation of the turn indicator. The driving lane and the verge are becoming obviously better illuminated. The cornerning light is integrated either directly in the headlamp or also in the bumper outside of the headlamp. With the activation of the cornerning light, the verge is illuminated from 30 to 60 degrees. A cost-optimized alternative is offered by a combination of cornering light in the application of the fog lamp.
Motorwaylight I
From a constant driving velocity of around 90 km/h, the motorway light can be activated.
Levelling motors thereby lift the projection module (of the left headlamp in right hand drive) successively.
With increasing speed the power of the Xenon lamp is raised to 37 W improving the illumination range
from 130 m up to 160 m.
When driving with high speed on motorways, this means a significant safety advantage.
Motorwaylight II
In addition to Motorwaylight I a further technological step of light can be implemented within the headlamp.
Motorwaylight II enables an extra illumination improvement of the road beyond the range of the conventional low beam.
This light function is already realised in Daimler CL-Coupé by an integrated spot module with Halogen light offering both - additional high beam and advanced motorway light.
Adverse Weather Light
Bad weather light can support the driver even during adverse weather conditions, eg. in rain or fog.
With activated low beam of fog light and a driving speed of under 70 km/h, the left headlamp (in right hand drive)
is inclined by 8 degrees to the outside and by 1 degree downwards.
Therewith, the self glare in foggy situations is diminished and the left verge better illuminated.
